Steph Maes, LMT. - Awaken coach and bodyworker
Becoming a yoga and bodyweight strength training coach, was a complete accident. I grew up in a small mountain town where there weren't any yoga studios and the only time I was in a "gym" was when I did sports in middle school and high school. In 2006, I was in a traumatic school shooting, an event which has shaped my entire life. I was diagnosed with PTSD and put on antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications. It was shorting after this that I found fitness in yoga. When I turned 21, I did a yoga teacher training.
I never planned on teaching, but as my journey unfolded, my passion for anatomy, alignment and fitness became undeniably clear.
I am certified in Barre, Spin, and have taken a 200-hour gymnastics teacher training. I completed my 900-hour massage therapy program at Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado and went back to school for an additional 504 hours to specialize in medical and myofascial bodywork, as well as the 10 Session Structural Integration Series.
In my free time, I enjoy getting outside as much as possible, planning my next adventure, performing and working towards certification in belly dance, and learning new things.
