Awaken Denver is honored to host world-renowned yogi and hand balancer Adrian McCavitt for a 2-day Denver Handstand Workshop. Let's get ready to learn the tips and techniques that will take us FURTHER in our workouts ... 

 

There are 4 workshops during the workshop weekend – each is 1.5 hours long. You can choose to sign up for just a single workshop, or multiple workshops throughout the weekend. 
 

Weekend Workshop Schedule:
Bring: Materials to take notes if desired, workout clothing, and if you are attending 2 workshops in a day, consider bringing a light snack like a banana, nuts or energy bar and a bottle of water for the break.

SATURDAY, August 25th Workshops

Adrian Workshop (Intro to Handstand Day 1)
1pm - 2:30pm

This all levels 1 of 2 handstand workshops will take an in-depth look at the techniques and conditioning techniques necessary for proper alignment, along with different entrances and variations such as tuck, straddle and full position. We will also examine the appropriate hand and shoulder placement, torso strength, and leg and hip intelligence necessary for macro and micro negotiations. All movements will be offered with modifications, so wherever you are in your practice, the workshop will be appropriate for you. We will have ample time to workshop personal movement goals, so feel free to bring your movement wish list to explore the endless possibilities.

Adrian Workshop (Advanced Press Handstand)
3pm - 4:30pm

Focus on the strength, alignment, leverage, and integrity in each joint necessary to create the lift for a press handstand. We will cover straddle tuck and pike variations and there will be multiple conditioning and coordination drills, including core work, shoulder and wrist stability, hip flexion/extension and press specific stretches. Prepare to have your full range of motion can be unlocked. Each practitioner will have a multitude of individualized techniques as well as guidelines to achieving the press handstand with a clear path to how to go about achieving the sought after movement. There is no prerequisite for this workshop, however, students are encouraged to attend the all levels introductory inversion class prior.

SUNDAY, August 26th Workshops

Adrian Workshop (Intro to Handstand Day 2)
1pm - 2:30pm
If the first day of the intro to handstand workshop wasn't enough for you, join us for the second day to work the techniques and conditioning exercises that will help you solidify your handstand line and training. The second day of the all levels handstand workshop will take your training even further. We will examine the appropriate hand and shoulder placement, torso strength, and leg and hip intelligence necessary for macro and micro negotiations. All movements will be offered with modifications, so wherever you are in your practice, the workshop will be appropriate for you. We will have ample time to workshop personal movement goals, so feel free to bring your movement wish list to explore the endless possibilities.

Adrian Workshop (Advanced Hollow Back / Flexibility)
3pm - 4:30pm

Build on the techniques acquired from "Intro to Handstand Workshop" prior and improve on them with heightened scrutiny in alignment. Working specifically with more flexible positions such as hollow back, scorpion, chest stand, and additional movements and conditioning techniques to improve muscle strength, coordination, and flexibility. A 15 to 30-second freestanding handstand is a prerequisite to attend this class, however, exceptions can be made if the practitioner wants to observe on a theoretical level, or participate knowing it is an intermediate to advanced workshop.

Adrian Mccavitt teaches workshops internationally, helping his students gain awareness of themselves through orchestrating alignment to achieve the choreography of complex movements. He teaches in a fun Vinyasa yoga style with his own modifications and amplification.
